Visitor thanks London for kindness shown during Vietnam veterans’ event

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — To the editor:

My name is Ron Dyer from Crossville, Tenn. I am the founder of Vietnam Veterans Day and Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans. I had the honor of being in London this weekend for the Welcome Home event. The visit there, because of the kindness shown to me by the people of London, will stay with me forever.

My special thanks go out to Buddy Butler and the organizing committee for putting this event together. Upon short notice they were so great at letting me be a part of the tribute on Saturday night. The response from the people was amazing.

Tears and hugs of happiness were abundant with residents telling these brave men “Welcome home and thank you.” The Vietnam veterans are true heroes that will go down in history. Many say it is too late after all these years, but it is better than never.

Once again to London, thank you, and I look forward to coming back to your beautiful city and state.

Semper Fi.

Ron Dyer

Crossville, Tenn.
