Please help keep new hospital in good shape

Letter to the editor

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — To the editor:

I am writing to express my disappointment with some observations I made at the recent new hospital open house.

London has much to be proud of and one of those things is the new Saint Joseph Hospital of London. It is beautiful and has the most up-to-date equipment for the employees to use. It is the hope of all of us to see our hospital stay in the condition that it is today. But, sadly I saw destruction to the new facility at one of the open houses.

One occasion was in a new patient room where two young children were kicking the freshly painted walls to see if they could make marks. The parent was nearby and knew what was happening but did nothing. The other occasion was two teenage boys who took liquid soap from the restrooms and smeared it on the new windows in the patient hallways. I believe they were asked to leave.

It is my hope the people of Laurel County will work to keep our new facility in good shape so that many of us can be helped with our medical needs. We all must be responsible for our actions, including to teach their children to respect their surroundings.
