London is blooming

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — To the editor:

Judging for the 2010 America in Bloom Competition is happening right now all across the United States. The results of this year’s friendly competition will be announced on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the America in Bloom Symposium & Awards in St. Louis, Mo.

What is apparent to us, your judges, is that London is already blooming …  in volunteerism and community pride, with good government, through beautiful landscapes and parks, and in countless other ways. We genuinely appreciated the opportunity we had to visit London.

It was a pleasure to meet so many dedicated and passionate residents, business people, and government workers; and to learn about your community, its past, present and future.

Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all that everyone is doing to continue to improve the quality of life in London and to share their vision and those initiatives with others. We were truly impressed with what we saw. Our best wishes to you in all your future endeavors.
