Lexington Children’s Theatre event highlights library schedule

A performance Friday by the Lexington Children’s Theatre is among the highlights on this month’s schedule at the Laurel County Public Library.

The presentation, “Keeping Mr. Lincoln,” is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Friday. This event is free and is appropriate for all ages. Sandra Fenichel Asher’s play is based on the life of Abraham Lincoln. It is the story of his journey from a childhood of near poverty to president of the United States of America.

The Lexington Children’s Theatre is one of the oldest, continuously operating theatres for young people in the country. Staffed with professional actors, directors, and support staff, their mission is to provide quality theatre experiences throughout the state of Kentucky.

Registration is required, and the first 100 registrants will have reserved seats. Remaining seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To register or for more information call Meghann at 864-5759, extension 237.

In the case of inclement weather, call the library to see if the program has been cancelled.

The library is just off the KY 192 bypass in London.

6:30 p.m. at the main branch, Lexington Children’s Theatre presents “Keeping Mr. Lincoln.” Free program. Call Meghann at 864-5759 to reserve one of 100 reserved seats. Seats are on a first-come, first-served basis the night of the performance.

• 7 p.m. at the main branch, New Book Discussion Group will discuss “The Toss of a Lemon,” by Padma Viswanathan. No registration required.



March 13

• 6 p.m. at the main branch, free movie. Based on the true story of professor Robert Kearns, this is the inspiring story of an ordinary man who worked diligently to create something revolutionary, only to have it stolen from him by a large corporation. March 14

• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the main branch, playwriting workshop program. A light lunch will be provided at noon. $10 fee. Registration and payment must be made by March 9th. Call 864-5759 to register.

• 6:30 p.m. at the main branch, Rhythm & Books Music Series. Join us for a free series of live jazz concerts sponsored by National City Bank and the Friends of the Laurel County Public Library. This first of four concerts will feature the OSLANDAILEY Duo — sax and piano by two jazz-loving music professors. Seats are not reserved, but registration would be appreciated for planning purposes.
