Laurel County students dance the afternoon away

By Tara Kaprowy
Staff Writer

Amid floating balloons and festive lime green streamers, the students of Laurel County boogied down Friday at their prom.

The event was conducted at St. William Catholic Church.

About 100 students danced the afternoon away, after snacking on a deluxe spread.

Alex Bledsoe and Tiffany Black were named king and queen, with Black ecstatic about the honor.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” she cried.

Donald Rady was happy to be there, showing off his DJ skills when introducing songs from former James Bond movies.

“I’m practically the guest DJ,” he said while dipping Mollee Bundy during the song “Diamonds are Forever.”

Nathaniel McDowell likewise had a great time and particularly liked the dancing portion of the celebration.

“I like dancing with all the pretty girls,” he admitted.

Prom season continues this week.

North Laurel’s masquerade-themed celebration will kick off at 8 p.m. this Saturday.

South Laurel High School’s “Bright Lights, Big City” prom was held Saturday.
