London tour set for tonight

— Laurel Countians will be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at Main Street tonight when London Downtown hosts its Upper-Story Downtown Living Tour.
The tour will consist of a visit to four downtown living spaces: Berry Cupp apartments, the apartment above Bob’s, Warren Scoville’s apartment to the right of his law firm, and Hayden Investments apartment above Laurel Beauty Shop.
A fifth stop will be in the apartment above ABC Mortgage, on north U.S. 25.
The goal of the tour is to promote downtown living.
“This is an initiative of the Kentucky Heritage Council,” London Downtown Executive Director Sherri Mosley explained. “As we all know, if people live, work and invest in downtown, a downtown will thrive.”
Mosley said similar tours are being conducted in Wilmore and Danville this summer, and Corbin showcased its upper-story living last month.
Mosley said she feels people will be impressed with what they see.
“I think people will be very surprised in what London has to offer,” she said.
She highlighted Scoville’s Manhattan-style apartment, with its open living space incorporating exposed brick and historical features with modern amenities.
“Another gem is what came out of the fire at Bob’s,” Mosley said.
The bedroom studio features hardwood flooring and a second-story garden and patio.
Mosley said she included the apartment above ABC Mortgage in the tour because she feels its concept could apply to a downtown living space.
The upper-story living tour is self guided and free.
The event will coincide with Thursday Night Live. Those interested can pick up brochures and maps at the London Downtown tent set up in front of the Laurel County Courthouse.
