Two arrested in drug raid

Drugs, money and guns seized from Laurel County couple

By Dean Manning
Staff Writer

Acting on a tip from the Manchester Police Wednesday, London Police arrested two people on drug trafficking charges and seized more than 250 prescription pills, multiple weapons, cash and a quantity of marijuana.

Alice F. House, 52, of London and Billy R. House, 38, of London, were each charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking in marijuana over 8 ounces.

London Police Lt. Stewart Walker said Manchester Police had been conducting a buy/bust operation in which undercover police will purchase drugs from suspected dealers who are later arrested.

During that operation, Walker said information from one of the suspects indicated a drug trafficking operation was ongoing from the home on McClure Bridge Road in Laurel County.

Manchester Police passed this information on to London Police. on Wednesday, Walker said a cooperating witness purchased prescription drugs from Alice House at the home.

Acting on that, London Police secured a search warrant and with assistance from the Manchester Police and Clay County Sheriff, executed the warrant.

Walker said Alice Walker was at home when officers arrived. The officers found a quantity of various prescription pills in one of the bedrooms. Inside a barn, officers located about 250 prescription pills, the marijuana, along with scales and plastic baggies and $6,560 in cash. A gun safe was also in the barn, inside of which officers located a variety of rifles, handguns and shotguns.

Alice House was taken into custody. London Police Detective Jimmy Phelps said officers made it known that they wanted to talk to Billy House. Billy House came to the London Police Department Wednesday where officers questioned him before arresting him.

Alice and Billy House are each being held in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
