Vote for Teacher of the Year

Chamber seeking nominations

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Each day, hundreds of men and women throughout the county enter classrooms full of children with the intent to inspire independent thinking, encourage self-development, and motivate a love for learning.

Juggling the duties of classroom instruction, required paperwork, training, staff meetings, parent conferences and numerous other daily requirements is a stressful and time consuming task. Many times, teachers remain at the school long after classroom hours, working to ensure their many responsibilities are completed.

While the impact of a teacher is immeasurable, the London-Laurel County Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking nominations for those teachers who inspire, instruct, and dedicate their lives to teaching.

The “Teacher of the Year” nominations will honor one teacher from the elementary, middle and high school levels at the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet on March 5. The sponsor of the teacher awards, Cumberland Healthcare, will present the winning teachers with a $1,000 check each.

The “Teacher of the Year” award is open to classroom teachers currently employed in any Laurel County school, including East Bernstadt and any other private schools. The nomination forms have been distributed to local schools and students should be bringing the forms home for parents to complete.

Nomination forms can also be located on the Chamber of Commerce’s website at http://www.londonlaurelchamber.com. Nominations must be received by Monday, Feb. 11.
