Man wanted for assault

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Spotting a vehicle she did not recognize in the back of her mother’s home caused suspicion for a Laurel woman on Monday afternoon.

But the man driving the truck realized that he had been seen, and promptly jumped into his vehicle and drove away.

The woman, however, was not deterred, and chased the truck along the roadway on Feltner Steer Road off Twin Branch Road, seven miles east of London. The woman’s intentions were to get the license plate number and give that information to police to help identify the man.

But her plan came to an abrupt halt when the man driving the vehicle jumped out, confronted the woman, and assaulted her before driving off again. The woman was able to take pictures of the truck, the man and the license plate tag with her cell phone before the man fled the scene the second time.

Now the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the driver of the  pickup, which is described as an older model black Chevrolet with a Kentucky coal license plate. It has a blue section on its rear tail gate.

The man was wearing a ball cap and had a large watch on his left wrist. He is considered to be dangerous.

The public’s help is needed to identify the location of the pickup, the name of the suspect and his location. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at (606) 864-6600 or Laurel Dispatch at (606) 878-7000. Callers may remain anonymous.
