LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A third London resident has been arrested in connection with the May 9 shooting death of a Knox County resident.
Stephanie G. Smith, 42, of McKee Street, was arrested Thursday night and is being held in the Laurel County Detention Facility on charges of murder in the death of 29-year-old Donald Mills.
According to a statement released by Kentucky State Police, Mills was reportedly the victim of a home invasion in which two individuals identified themselves as law enforcement officers entered Mills’ home, carrying firearms.
A struggle took place between Mills and one of the intruders. During the struggle, Mills was shot. He later died from his wounds at the Knox County Hospital.
Both intruders left the residence in a maroon four-door Ford F-150 with tinted windows, chrome steps and a chrome front push bar.
Further investigation of the shooting incident lead to the May 16 arrest of two London men, Patrick B. Baker, 36, and Christopher Bradley Wagner, 36, both men were charged with murder an lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
The following day, 30-year-old Elijah Messer of Dewitt, Ky., and 39-year-old Angela Mills of Scalf were arrested — also charged with murder.
The case is still under investigation by Kentucky State Police Detective Bryan Johnson.
