Attorney arrested for DUI

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

Laurel County Bar Association President and local attorney Conrad A. Cessna was arrested Friday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities say Cessna, 31, of London, was arrested after Laurel County dispatch received a call from an off duty Kentucky State Police Trooper in reference to a hit and run the trooper had witnessed in the parking lot of Shiloh’s Roadhouse.

The trooper told dispatchers he was following the vehicle east on the Hal Rogers Parkway.  Soon after receiving the call, London Police Officer Rick Cloyd located and stopped the vehicle, a 2011 Dodge Charger, at the intersection of Ky. 472 and 4th Street.

At the time of the stop, Cloyd detected an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and initiated a field sobriety test.

According to reports, Cessna failed the horizontal gaze sobriety test administered by Cloyd and had a .158 blood alcohol level when tested.

Cessna was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, aggravated, first offense; license to be in possession and failure to provide an insurance card.

Cessna was booked in the Laurel County Detention Center at 9:30 p.m. Friday night and was released early Saturday morning on a $1,000 surety bond.

Cessna is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 24, at 9:30 a.m. in Laurel District Court.

“I deeply regret my actions which led to this incident,” Cessna said in a statement to The Sentinel-Echo. “I understand that driving under the influence of alcohol is a very serious matter. I can assure you that I will never put myself in this situation again, and will learn from this experience.”
