An Annville teen was killed Friday afternoon after he drove into the path of an oncoming semitrailer truck on Hal Rogers Parkway.
Aaron Ray Snider, 18, died from massive head and chest injuries after the left side of his Lincoln Continental was crushed in the collision, Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling said.
Bowling said the accident happened at 2:24 p.m. He said Snider, who was turning left onto the parkway, turned in front of the truck and was struck in the left side and pushed into the Pontiac G6 that was traveling west on the parkway.
One witness, James Haney, said the truck was traveling east on the parkway. As it approached the intersection with KY 192, the driver slowed down because of the caution lights, but could not avoid the turning vehicle.
“He couldn’t do anything,” Haney said of the truck driver. “He caught the Continental and push it right into the other car.”
Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Greg Reams is leading the investigation into the wreck.
London Police, London-Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Kentucky WMD/Hazmat Task Force 11 and the London Fire Department assisted at the scene.
