Authorities continue drug suspect roundup

Kentucky State Police are continuing their efforts to apprehend 40 suspected drug dealers in Laurel and Whitley counties.

Cap. Lisa Rudzinski, commander of KSP Post 11 in London, said five suspects had been taken into custody as of Thursday morning in addition to the 31 arrests law enforcement made during the initial roundup on Jan. 16.

“Two of the suspects turned themselves in while three others were taken into custody,” Rudzinski said. “The results have been exceptional.”

Rudzinski said cooperation between area law enforcement has been vital to the success of the operation, which was the result of a nine-month investigation by London Detective David Lassitter and KSP Senior Trooper Don Sivils.

KSP was assisted in the operation by Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Corbin Police, Williamsburg Police, Laurel County Constable Denver Mays and Laurel County Constable Lonnie Abrams.

Rudzinski said law enforcement needs the public’s help to fight the scourge of drugs.

“We encourage anyone that sees something, hears something or smells something that leads them to suspect illegal drug activity to contact local law enforcement,” Rudzinski said.

Arrested were:

1. Melinda L. Grubb, 33, of Corbin, charged with one count trafficking a controlled substance first degree and two counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

2. Freddie Jones, 61, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County.

3. Rocky L. Johnson, 27, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County.

4. Tommy E. Walker, 36, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

5. Dustin L. Warren, 28, of Corbin, charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree and two counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

6. Jennifer Burke, 32, of Corbin, charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County and two counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Whitley County.

7. Roy E. Blevins, 31, of Corbin, charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County and one count of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Whitley County.

8. Judy P. Wilder, 55, of Keavy, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

9. Donnie M. Messer, 52, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County.

10. Sam C. Gilbert, 72, of Corbin, charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County and one count of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Whitley County.

11. Henry Scalf, 41, of Corbin, charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County and one count of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Whitley County.

12. Russell R. Hacker, 37, of Corbin, charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

13. Robert W. Reed, 47, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County.

14. Shana B. Lowe, 33, of Trosper (in Knox County), charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County.

15. David Petty, 28, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

16. Steve Helton, 32, of Woodbine, charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Whitley County.

17. Julie Helton, 26, of Woodbine, charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Whitley County.

18. Jesse L. Baker, 29, of Woodbine, charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree and on count of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Whitley County.

19. Edith L. Petty, 31, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

20. Sherry Kilburn, 51, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

21. Steven M. Lewis, 21, of London, charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County.

22. Floyd C. Sizemore, 31, of Corbin, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Laurel County.

23. Matthew D. Fore, 30, of Corbin, charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County.

24. Lois A. Maxwell, 36, of Corbin, charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Laurel County.

27. Justin Lambdin, 23, of Rockhold, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance first degree in Whitley County.

28. Brian C. Carroll, 22, of Corbin, charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Whitley County.

29. Robin Hill, 50, of Corbin, charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Whitley County.

30. James O. Harp Jr., 50, of Woodbine, charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Whitley County.

31. Patricia Potter, 43, of Woodbine, charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance second degree in Whitley County.
