Jason W. Anderson, 32, of Lily, pulled up to a Kentucky State Trooper to ask for directions and received a ride to the Laurel County Detention following his arrest on charges of DUI, possession of Oyxcodone, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trooper Steve Smallwood said he was conducting a traffic stop on Slate Lick Church Road about 8:45 p.m. Thursday when Anderson pulled up in his Chevrolet Camaro to ask for directions to KY 30.
“He (Anderson) appeared to be under the influence with glossy, bloodshot eyes and severely pinpointed pupils,” Smallwood said.
Smallwood told Anderson to pull to the side of the road, took his license and asked him to step out of the vehicle.
“Upon exiting the vehicle, I saw him flick a pill from his hand onto the ground,” Smallwood said.
A search of Anderson’s vehicle turned up two more pills, which Smallwood said were identified by poison control as Oxycodone.
Anderson was taken to St. Joseph London for a blood test, after which he was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Smallwood said the results of the blood test are pending.
