Firefighter back on duty after collapse

A Laurel County firefighter who collapsed Thursday while battling a fire on Johnston Lane has recovered.

Laurel County Fire Chief Tommy Johnston said Lt. Wiley Saylor was taken to Saint Joseph- London for treatment of heat exhaustion.

“He has been released from the hospital and is back on duty,” Johnston said.

At a fire Saturday on Falcon Lane, at which additional manpower was requested from the Lily Fire Department to allow firefighters regular breaks. In addition, firefighters drank plenty of water in an effort to stay cool and hydrated.
