London Police and Kentucky State Police had to taze a suspect wanted for writing numerous forged checks after he punched an officer in the face.
About 9 p.m. Saturday, London Police Lt. Derek House, Officer Randy Medlock and Kentucky State Police Trooper Mike King went to a home on Delph Cemetery Road in East Bernstadt to serve an arrest warrant on Mark A. White, 36, who is accused of trying to cash more than $1,700 worth of personal checks after forging the account holders’ names.
King said officers found White near a pond and identified themselves.
“(White) jumped out of the chair and took off running,” King said.
The officers caught up with White and began wrestling with him in an attempt to secure him in handcuffs.
“Officers tried to detain subject, subject struck Lt. Derek House in the face with his fist and continued to struggle in attempt to flee,” King said
King said White was hit with two, 5-second shocks from his Tazer before he was taken into custody and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges at his arraignment Monday in Laurel District Court.
