A Mount Vernon man is in the Laurel County Detention Center after police reportedly saw him urinating on West KY 80 Friday morning.
London Police Sergeant Gary Proffitt said he was investigating a complaint of a person driving under the influence on West KY 80 when he came upon Sowder as he neared the intersection with Black road.
“While in the area drove up on above (Sowder) who was standing in the middle of the road with his genitals exposed relieving himself,” Proffitt stated.
Proffitt said during his conversation with Sowder, Sowder appeared to be under the influence as he was unsteady on his feet. When Proffitt questioned him about his situation, Sowder reportedly said he had been drinking substantially at one of the bars.
Proffitt performed a portable breathalizer test, which he said indicated the presence of alcohol.
Sowder was arrested and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
