Laurel sheriff's office warns of fire-department donation scam

The Laurel County Sherriff's Office is investigating a couple posing as members of the Bush Volunteer Fire Department to receive donations, according to a recent press release.

The release goes on to state how a man and a woman in the East Ky. 80 area driving a blue or silver car have been asking for donations. According to the sherriff's office, the Bush Volunteer Fire Department does not solicit donations, as it is entirely supported by the Laurel County fire tax.

The sherriff's office advises anyone who encounters these individuals not to give them any money and to contact the department immediately. It's also requested that citizens attempt to get a license number off the vehicle if at all possible.
