Gunman attempts robbery at Spur Oil

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — LONDON — A lone gunman attempted to rob the a second-shift manager of the Spur Oil Station on east U.S. 25 (Cumberland Gap Parkway) outside of the business early Thursday, Sept. 19 at approximately 4:30 a.m.  The manager was able to get away before being robbed and called 9-1-1.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brett Reeves, and Deputy Shawn Boroviak were dispatched to an attempted armed robbery at the Spur Oil Station, off exit 29 in southern Laurel County.

A lone gunman, armed with a pistol, attempted to rob the second-shift manager who was walking across  the parking lot of the station. Allegedly, the would be robber was inside the business earlier, but went outside to his vehicle, and drove it to where the manager was walking. The gunman then stuck a pistol out the window and demanded money.

The suspect fled the scene in a white Dodge crew cab dually pickup. Detective Charlie Loomis, who is continuing the investigation, describes the suspect as a white male, 6 foot, 1 inch, 200 pounds, gray Kentucky hooded sweatshirt, warm-up pants, with black tennis shoes trimmed in white.
