Man charged with burglarizing boss’ home
An East Bernstadt man accused of breaking into his boss’ home while he was at the hospital with his wife, has been arrested on burglary and theft charges.
Following a two-month investigation into the burglary at the home of David Michael White on Robert E. Cox Road in North Corbin, Laurel County Sheriff’s Detective Charles Loomis arrested Tracy D. Horney, 22, of East Bernstadt.
Loomis said on May 29, while White was at the hospital with his wife, someone entered the home through a kitchen window and took cash and jewelry valued at $3,715.
Loomis said there was no sign of forced entry and White was not even aware the home had been burglarized until May 31 when he noticed the items were missing from a shelf in the living room.
Loomis said an investigation showed Horney, who he said was employed by White, stole the items and took them out of state and sold.
Horney was arrested Tuesday on charges of second-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking over $500.
Horney was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center where he is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.
Horney is scheduled to return to Laurel District Court Aug. 4 for a preliminary hearing.
