After what he described as a “brief struggle,” Laurel County Sheriff Fred Yaden and two of his deputies arrested an East Bernstadt man accused of selling methamphetamine at the Shell station in East Bernstadt Thursday and confiscated a large amount of methamphetamine.
Yaden, along with Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Bo Harris, responded to a complaint that a man was trafficking drugs at the gas station on KY 490.
The caller told deputies the man was coming into the gas station and staying for several hours at a time, Yaden said.
Yaden and his deputies found David Wayne Roark, 49, of East Bernstadt and took him into custody. In addition to the methamphetamine, deputies found several pain pills and a loaded handgun.
Roark was changed with first-degree disorderly conduct, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, giving an officer a false name or address and fourth-degree assault. He is being held in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
Harris is continuing the investigation into what, if any, part an unidentified woman may have had in the case and charges may be filed against her.
