Kentucky State Police now recruiting

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Those searching for an adequate way to give back to the community, find rewarding employment, or protect the Commonwealth of Kentucky should look no further than the Kentucky State Police (KSP).

The Kentucky State Police have opened their recruiting stations and are now accepting applications for the 92nd cadet class, which is scheduled to begin on August 3.

According to KSP’s official website, the requirements of being a Kentucky State Trooper are as follows: applicants must be a citizen of the United States, of good moral character and in good health, at least 21 years of age, and have a valid driver’s license with less than six driver’s demerit points. Cadets must also have at least 60 credits from an accredited college or university, two years of active military duty or two years worth of experience in law enforcement.

The application process includes a written test – study guides are available for free online, along with the application – a physical agility test consisting of push ups, sit ups, a 300-meter run, bench press, 1.5-mile run, an oral interview, background check, and polygraph.

All applicants who fail the written exam are not eligible for a re-test. The following are available test locations and times:

• Wednesday, March 26: 9 a.m. EST– Eastern Kentucky University, DOCJT – Funderburk Building, Richmond, Ky. Application Deadline: Monday, March 24.

• Friday, March 28: 9 a.m. EST– Eastern Kentucky University DOCJT – Funderburk Building, Richmond, Ky. Application Deadline: Monday, March 24.

• Wednesday, April 2: 9 a.m. CST– Western Kentucky University – Diddle Arena, Bowling Green, Ky. Application Deadline: Monday, March 31.

• Thursday, April 3: 9 a.m. EST– Eastern Kentucky University DOCJT – Funderburk Building, Richmond, Ky. Application Deadline: Tuesday, April 1.

• Friday, April 4: 9 a.m. EST– Eastern Kentucky University DOCJT – Funderburk Building, Richmond, Ky. Application Deadline: Tuesday, April 1.

All application materials must be completed and returned to the KSP Recruitment Branch at 919 Versailles Road, Frankfort, Ky. 40601.
