LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — After a lengthy investigation, Laurel County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Back discovered an extensive drug trafficking network, centered in the city limits of London.

Zachary Helfer, 23, of 107 Lovelace St., was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana, 8 ounces to 5 pounds, first offense.

According to the sheriff’s report, Helfer was supplying multiple pounds of marijuana to various persons in Laurel County.

On Friday, March 8 at 11:30 a.m., police made arrangements to purchase one pound of marijuana from Helfer in a drug buy.

After a search warrant was executed at the residence, an additional half pound of marijuana was located, along with a large amount of cash, two rifles, and a laptop computer.

Helfer was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Deputies assisting in the arrest and search were James Sizemore, Greg Turner, and Shane Rice.
