Two weekend robberies in South Laurel

Fourth robbery in two weeks

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Two more armed robberies occurred in north Corbin over the weekend, and police are seeking information on the identities of those involved.

The latest robbery took place on Sunday night just across the road from two robberies committed last weekend.

Laurel Lake Shell, located on Ky. 770, 10 miles south of London, was the target on Sunday, in which a lone male subject entered the store armed with a semi-automatic pistol and demanded money from the attendant. The suspect then fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

That suspect is described as a white male, medium build, who was wearing a red shirt covered by a blue sweatshirt with a white Nike emblem on the front. He wore a brown coat with a hood over his head, in addition to a blue bandana on his head. It is not known if this robbery is related to two armed robberies at the BP/Krystal that took place on Friday, Mar. 22 and Sunday, Mar. 24.

Detective Daryl Zanet is investigating the robbery at Laurel Lake Shell, located just off Exit 29 of Interstate 75 at the first Corbin exit in southern Laurel County, which occurred around 9:20 p.m.

Assisting at the scene were Lt. Chuck Johnson, Deputy Brett Reeves, Deputy Milton Storm, and Deputy Jeff Blunschi.

Unique Tanning and Gifts and Tobacco Store on west U.S. 25 in southern Laurel County was the scene of a Friday night robbery. Once again, a lone white male robbed the attendant at gunpoint, again fleeing the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. However, in this incident, the gunman walked up to the drive-thru window and held the gun on the attendant.

This suspect is described as a white male, tall and thin, with age approximated between 25 and 30 years, with a goatee, and dirty blond hair. He was wearing a plain blue hoodie and armed with a black pistol.

It is not believed that this robbery is related to the other robberies.
