LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Bomb threats made to a local retail store and county jail Sunday were just that, threats. Through investigation, the London Police Department determined that no explosives were found at either location.
Peggy S. Baker, 51, of 61 Blake Drive in London, was arrested for first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree terroristic threatening for threats made against the life of a London police officer.
On Sunday, Dec. 16, the 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call at 2:28 a.m. from an employee at the London Walmart on Ky. 192 stating she had received a call at the store warning there was a bomb inside and was set to detonate. London Police responded to the call and immediately evacuated the building. An intense search then began for any suspicious items. No explosives were found.
Later, at approximately 3:42 a.m., the communications center received a second call from an employee at the Laurel County Detention Center, stating they had received a call about a bomb threat. The caller, who was later determined to be Baker, was reportedly crying when she told a jail employee there was a bomb at Walmart and underneath the jail.
During the investigation, officers were able to trace both calls back to Baker. Officers located her at her home on Blake Drive, where she was arrested.
Assisting officers were Sgt. Eric Wilkerson, Officer William Goins and William Jones, Kentucky State Police Trooper Tacket Wilson and his K-9 Max, and Officers Ryan Jackson, Jeremy Shell and Eric Stallard.
The investigation is being continued by the London Police Department.
