LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — For the third time in just over four weeks, a south Laurel business was robbed by an unknown gunman.

Tuesday night’s robbery occurred at 9:43 p.m. at the BP/Krystal store on Ky. 770, 10 miles south of London, off Exit 29 of Interstate 75.

In the same pattern as two prior armed robberies on Mar. 22 and Mar. 25, a lone gunman entered the BP side of the store, brandished a semi-automatic pistol and demanded an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

The description of the gunman in this week’s robbery is described as a white male with  a gray beard, stocky build and wearing a black hoodie and blue bandana over his face, and had a silver semi-automatic pistol.

Troopers with the Kentucky State Police Post 11 joined the Sheriff’s officials in the search for the gunman, with Trooper Jason McCowan bringing in his tracking dog in hopes of finding the scent of the man, but those efforts were unsuccessful during Tuesday night’s search.

The robbery is being investigated by Sheriff’s Detective Daryl Zanet. He was assisted at the scene by Captain Rodney Van Zant, Lieutenant Chuck Johnson, Deputy Robbie Grimes, Detective Billy Madden, Deputy Josh Scott, Deputy Shawn Boroviak, KSP Trooper  Jason McCowan and other KSP troopers.

Anyone with information on this robbery is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (606) 864-6600 or Laurel Dispatch at (606) 878-7000. Callers may remain anonymous.
