LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A man indicted for drug trafficking in 2009 was captured by authorities on Monday afternoon.
Dudley W. Wagers, 38, of Bridgestone Road in London, had evaded police for three years on an indictment that he was trafficking marijuana in Laurel County.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Back, who is also a Special Agent with the U.S. Marshal’s Office in London, worked with the federal agency to conduct the arrest that occurred on Bridgestone Road, three miles north of London, around 3:45 p.m.
Wagers was indicted in 2009 on charges of first-degree trafficking in marijuana. He has evaded police since that time; however, earlier this year a narcotics case against Wagers was developed and law enforcement officials developed information on Wagers’ whereabouts.
Assisting on the scene were Lt. Rodney Van Zant and Sgt. Chuck Johnson.
Wagers is now held in the Laurel County Detention Center on charges of trafficking in marijuana with a $7,500 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in Laurel Circuit Court on May 29 for that charge. The trafficking in a controlled substance bond is set at $10,000 cash. He was scheduled for an arraignment hearing in Laurel District Court on today, May 9.
