LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A group of Bell County hunters had a close call  last weekend after being lost in the heavily wooded area in western Laurel County.

The men consisted of three adult males and two juvenile males who went coon hunting on Line Creek Road, 10 miles west of London, on Saturday night. The thickly wooded area and hilly terrain of that area resulted in the five men being lost in the woods and unable to find their way back to their vehicle.

Despite the low areas and steep hillsides, the men were able to get some spotty cell phone service and called for help.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Scott went to the scene early Sunday morning and located the subjects’ vehicle parked beside the roadway. The team, which assisted in searching for the men, sounded a loud air horn, which helped guide the group out of the woods and back to safety.

None of the men were hurt in the incident.
