Two arrested after found asleep on railroad tracks

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — LONDON — A Pittsburg couple were found asleep on the CSX railroad tracks off Ky. 490 on Monday afternoon.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Larry Parrott were dispatched by Laurel 9-1-1 to a complaint that someone was lying on the CSX railroad tracks unconscious on Monday, Nov. 4  at 4:50 p.m.

When deputies arrived at the scene, approximately five miles north of London off Ky. 490, they located two individuals — a male and a female, both sleeping. After deputies awakened both, they conducted an investigation determining both to be under the influence of drugs and were arrested.

Lucas D. Nantz, 28, and Christina B. Cawood, 40, both of Pittsburg are charged with public intoxication of controlled substances, and second-degree criminal trespassing. In addition, Lucas Nantz was charged with trafficking in a legend drug after a large quantity of pills were found in his possession.

Both were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
