LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A Keavy couple face multiple felony charges involving selling various prescription pills in an eight-count indictment returned last week.
James Leland Karr, 62, and his wife, 51-year-old Shirley Karr, who is also known as Shirley Jones, were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance on their arrest date of Aug. 8.
The Earl Howard Road couple allegedly possessed with the purpose of selling more than 400 different prescription pills including Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Diazepam, and Clonazepam.
Leland Karr has a 1997 conviction in Laurel County for trafficking illegal substances. His charges are all second offenses while Shirley Karr’s is a first offense.
Their arrests came from an investigation between the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and the London office of the Drug Enforcement Agency. When law enforcement arrived at the Karrs’ residence that day, they discovered a variety of prescription pills as well as a large amount of cash.
An indictment is an accusation only and does not imply guilt or innocence.
