Heavy rains cause crash

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Five people were injured Wednesday evening in a single-vehicle accident, when the driver of a Ford Freestyle SUV lost control and struck a concrete median barrier.

The accident occurred around 6 p.m., on Interstate 75, approximately nine miles north of London.  Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott investigated the scene and determined the driver of the vehicle, Joyce Annaie, 71, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., lost control of the vehicle due to a heavy rainstorm.

Annaie; Katheryn Brown, 31 of Aurora, Ill.; and her three children, ages 2, 6 and 7, were transported by ambulance to Saint Joseph London, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

The London Fire Department and Laurel County Fire Department assisted at the scene.
