Four-car wreck backs up south U.S. 25

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Traffic was backed up for approximately 30 minutes on south U.S. 25 Wednesday afternoon following a four-car collision.

According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Lloyd Cochran, the wreck occurred at 1:38 p.m. Wanda Hubbard of Manchester, who was traveling northbound in a 2008 Chevy Cobalt, was attempting to turn left off of U.S. 25.  Two cars back, Robert Williams of London, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, approached the slowed traffic, but failed to stop, hitting a 2000 Lincoln Continental in the rear, operated by Heather Hensley of Corbin.

Because of the jarring impact, Hensley lost control of her vehicle and struck Hubbard’s car.

As the vehicle pileup ensued, a 2012 Toyota Highlander, driven by Rodney Chrisman from McKee, was heading southbound on U.S. 25.  After impact with the Lincoln, Williams’ Jeep bounced into the southbound lane. Chrisman swerved to avoid the Jeep, lost control of his vehicle and flew into the southbound ditch.

Hubbard was transported to Saint Joseph London with non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the London Fire Department, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and KSP Trooper Jack Riley.
