LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
On Tuesday morning, a single-vehicle crash took place east of London on Tom Cat Trail taking the driver Robert Landon Parker’s life at 19 years old and sending the passenger, James A. Woods to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with critical head injuries.
Parker was headed westbound on Tom Cat Trail in a 1988 blue Chevrolet pick-up following brief heavy rains. According to Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy William Bo Harris, the slick roadways caused the vehicle to slide off the pavement hitting two trees on the left-side over an embankment. Parker was partially ejected from the vehicle receiving fatal injuries.
When emergency personnel arrived, Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling pronounced Parker dead at the scene. Air Methods stabilized Woods before they transported him to the UK Medical Center by helicopter.
Assisting at the scene was Laurel Sheriff’s Sergeant Josh Gaylor, Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemorem, and Sgt. E.R. Rudder. Also assisting was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London-Laurel Rescue Squad and Bush Volunteer Fire Department.
