LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
American Greeting Card Road was the scene of a head-on crash between two vehicles that sent four persons for medical treatment, one of which was flown to a Lexington hospital.
The accident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. on Ky. 1223, American Greeting Card Road near Corbin Manor, in the southern section of Laurel County.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Lloyd Cochran responded to the scene where he found four persons sustaining injuries from the crash. The investigation revealed that 21-year-old Bailey Steele of Corbin was traveling south on Ky. 1223 in a brown 2004 Chevrolet Impala when her vehicle skidded into the northbound lane, colliding with a red 1999 Dodge pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Derrick Robinson of London.
Steele said she swerved into the northbound lane to avoid a red GMC Sonoma pickup that pulled out in front of her from Corbin Manor. Steele and a passenger, 21-year-old Adam Senters of Flat Lick, were transported to Saint Joseph London for treatment of injuries.
Robinson and one passenger, 23-year-old Michael Gallagher of Corbin, were also taken to the London hospital for injuries. A second passenger in Robinson’s vehicle — 21-year-old Johnny Sasser of Keavy — was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for his injuries.
No alcohol or drug abuse is suspected as a factor in the accident.
The investigation was conducted by Trooper Cochran. He was assisted at the scene by Trooper John Barnett, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and members of the West Knox Volunteer Fire Department.
