Man accused of burglary, rape

Hours after a London woman was allegedly raped by a burglar at her home, the Laurel County Major Crimes Task Force charged Tyler Gross, 22, of London with the crime.

Kentucky State Police spoksman Don Trosper said a male suspect forced his way into the woman’s home through a window about 2 a.m. Friday. He sexually assaulted her, took several items and fled the scene.

The woman told detectives with the task force that Gross was the assailant. Detectives found Gross about noon Friday and took him to the KSP Post 11 in London for questioning.

Gross was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree burglary and first-degree unlawful imprisonment and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Trosper said investigators have not determined a motive for the assault or if Gross knew the victim.
