Two women arrested after alleged meth lab found
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies discovered an active one-step meth lab cooking inside a passenger van parked on Chapel Road early Wednesday morning, which resulted in two women being arrested.
Deputies Jerry Jones and Robert Mitchell received a complaint about the van and went to investigate. Inside the vehicle, they found Sherrie Combs, 40, of Barbourville, and Crystal Doan, 35, of KY 490.
Combs was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense, unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor, first offense, and an arrest warrant for two counts of theft by deception.
Doan was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursor, second offense.
Zach Bryson, director of public safety and emergency management, assisted at the scene.
“Meth right now is on the rise,” he said. “It is a growing problem. I’ve really noticed it here in the last month.”
Doan and Combs are lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
