Woman heard advertising on CB radio pleads guilty to prostitution charge
Shannon L. Johnson will spend two weeks in the Laurel County Detention Center after pleading guilty to prostitution and trespassing charges Friday in Laurel District Court.
Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Greg Reams said about midnight Thursday he heard a woman, later identified as Johnson, advertising commercial company at the old Marathon Truck Stop in North Corbin on the CB radio.
“The truck stop is closed but they still park trucks behind the building,” Reams said
Reams said the woman identified herself by age, physical description and the clothes she was wearing. While he was sitting in the parking lot, he saw her get into four separate trucks, spending 15 to 25 minutes in each one before moving to the next.
Johnson, 22, of Williamsburg, was charged with prostitution and second-degree criminal trespassing. Reams said she admitted earlier in the week that law enforcement had told her to leave the property and not return.
Johnson was sentenced to 360 days, serve 14 days, with the balance probated provided she have no further legal trouble in the next two years.
In addition to the Laurel County Charges, Johnson has an outstanding warrant from Whitley County on theft and burglary charges. When she completes her sentence in Laurel County, she will be transferred to Whitley County to answer those charges.
