LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
It was brief and straight to business.
During a special-called meeting of the Laurel County Fiscal Court on Wednesday morning, magistrates agreed to change the date of March’s regular monthly meeting.
Originally set for Thursday, March 28, the meeting was approved to be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 9 a.m.
The change is due to the county holiday of Good Friday on March 29. Laurel County Judge Executive David Westerfield said the change would allow time to deal with regular business transactions before the Friday holiday.
The magistrates also approved paying monthly bills already submitted to the court this month--again, another way of completing tasks early. A representative with the Judge-Executive’s office said since a special-called meeting was required to change the monthly meeting date, County Treasurer Karen Montgomery also submitted bills for approval to be paid.
“Since we were already having a meeting, we wanted to go ahead and get approval on the bills and get that taken care of,” the representative said.
