LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The Laurel County Board of Education is pleased to introduce new Superintendent Doug Bennett at a reception open to the public on Sunday, August 19, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the G.C. Garland Administration Building. Bennett accepted leadership of the district effective July 1, and has been busily engaged in the process of opening school for this new year.
Bennett has built his experience in the field of education from the ground up. Prior to this position, he spent 20 years in the Whitley County School District serving as a high school wrestling coach, Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish and English teacher, and as a guidance counselor and principal of Whitley North Elementary. Currently, he is completing his doctorate degree in educational leadership at the University of the Cumberlands. He has a master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and Union College.
Through his leadership within Laurel County Schools, Bennett said he hopes that not only his children, but all Laurel County students will receive a high quality of education that can assure a successful future in their career of choice.
“I share a commitment to ensure that Laurel County students receive the best educational services possible, bar none,” he said. “I am impressed with the staff, parents and community members that I have met so far. It is the people that are Laurel County’s greatest resources; this community reflects a high degree of care and pride. Our staff is focused on supporting one primary goal: Doing what is best for students.”
We invite you to join the Board of Education and Laurel County Schools staff in welcoming Superintendent Doug Bennett.
