Man charged with rape, sodomy

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A London man was arrested just after midnight Friday, charged with rape and sodomy of a mentally challenged juvenile female.

Dustin E. Brummett, 25, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Jack Riley at 12:25 a.m. at a residence on Oneal Road in western Laurel County. Brummett lists an address of Laurel River Road in London and is accused of having sexual intercourse with a juvenile female on several occasions, as well as sodomizing her at least two different times.

According to the warrant, Brummett allegedly admitted having “non-forcible” sexual intercourse with the juvenile girl on two occasions, although the victim stated the sexual acts took place at least “four to five” times. These incidents happened at two different residences where the child lived and are believed to have taken place within the past six months.

Although the juvenile is beyond the legal age of consent (age 16) in the state of Kentucky, the first-degree rape charge stems from her below-average I.Q. level.
