Jackson Energy reports 130 outages

Staff Writer

LONDON — Jackson Energy had widespread outages across its service territory after strong winds and rain moved through Thursday night and early Friday morning. Just over 850 outages were reported in the seven counties served by the electric cooperative, including 130 in Laurel County.

Areas affected in Laurel County included Marydell near Bush, Tom Cat Trail and the Bald Rock area near Keavy. Two broken poles were reported in the Mt. Zion community.

“The high winds caused tree limbs and trees to fall on power lines, which were the main cause of the storm damage,” according to Jackson Energy Director of Public Relations Karen Combs.

Jackson Energy crews worked through the night making repair and repairs were expected to continue into Friday afternoon. Additional contractor crews were called in to assist with repairs.
