LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A Keavy woman called 9-1-1 on Labor Day Monday and falsely identified herself as a police officer to gain information.
Katherine Young, 38, of 266 Keavy Road in London, was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer, a class D felony, after a 9-1-1 call was traced to her.
The London-Laurel County 9-1-1 Communication Center received a call from Young requesting information about a person incarcerated in a Kentucky prison. She informed dispatcher Cody Faulkner that she and her husband were both Kentucky State Police troopers.
She stated she was moonlighting and being paid to find someone in the prison system. Faulkner knew this request was outside of normal dispatch procedures and suspected the caller was not a known KSP trooper. He contacted London Police Detective Joe Smith who traced the call to Young.
Young was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
