LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Alcohol played a factor in several people being arrested by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office over the weekend in unrelated incidents.
Deputy Larry Parrott was dispatched to a complaint that a car had almost pulled through the front door of the Lily Liberty gas station Saturday night at approximately 9:40 p.m., on U.S. 25, eight miles south of London.
When Parrott arrived at the scene, he conducted an investigation on the driver who appeared to be intoxicated. Kevin Lee, 37, of Walnut Ave., Corbin, was determined to be under the influence and was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to wear a seat belt, and failure of owner to maintain required insurance along with other traffic violations. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
A London woman was arrested Saturday morning during the investigation of an unrelated complaint of a fight in progress at a facility on South U.S. 25, seven miles south of London.
Deputy Mikey Ashurst was parked at the entrance of the facility with other deputies while conducting their investigation and, while there, a vehicle pulled up behind deputies and would not move.
Deputies even attempted to flag the vehicle around them, but the vehicle failed to move. When Deputy Ashurst approached the driver of the white Pontiac Grand Am, he observed an open beer can sitting in a cup holder and whiskey on the floorboard. Ashurst also detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver. The driver was determined to be under the influence.
Ashurst arrested Jennifer Vaughn, 22, of W. 10th St., London and charged her with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to wear seat belts, and possession of open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited.
Vaughn was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
