LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
This year’s Christmas on Main on Friday, Dec. 6 promises to be a fun-filled way to start the holiday season.
The Book Walk, an annual event for children, is expected to once again include approximately 10 stops at local downtown businesses for readings from favorite Christmas stories. The book walk will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The Christmas themed singing on the Laurel County Courthouse steps will begin at 5 p.m. and will continue until the Randy Smith Christmas On Main parade at 7 p.m.
According to Director of London Downtown Chris Robinson, several groups have already registered floats for the parade. This year’s parade theme is “All I want for Christmas is…”
“For those wanting to participate in the parade, we encourage organizations to use the theme, but it is optional. Traditional holiday floats are always encouraged and welcomed,” Robinson said.
Additionally, downtown businesses will also offer giveaways and refreshments until the start of the parade.
Following the parade, everyone will be asked to move from Main Street to the London-Laurel County Farmers Market where the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree will take place.
Santa will also be around and will be happy to take pictures with children and to hear their Christmas wishes. As always, games and giveaways will also be a part of this year’s celebration.
A parade entry form can be found in this issue of The Sentinel Echo (Page 5) or at www.londonkydowntown.com under downloads or by contacting the LDI Office at 862-8841 or email@example.com.
