LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Three candidates out of 17 applications for the position of East Bernstadt Independent School’s superintendent have been chosen by a screening committee.

The names were revealed at the November board meeting: Jim Meding, who is the current principal and assistant superintendent; Vicki Jones, who is principal of Cold Hill Elementary; and Walter T. Hulett, who is superintendent of the Knox County schools and a former Laurel County superintendent.

The three educators will be interviewed by the screening committee on November 28.

The current East Bernstadt superintendent, Homer Radford, will be retiring at the end of December after being a teacher, principal, and superintendent for a total of 42 years.
