Tuesday’s wreck claims one life

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A head-on collision at 9:09 a.m. Tuesday has resulted in the 15th vehicle fatality this year in Laurel County.  

Albert Stillings, 74, of West Laurel Road in London was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center and was pronounced deceased at 2:27 p.m.

Stillings and Bobby Evans, 49, of Corbin collided approximately three miles west of London on Ky. 192.  Stillings driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty was flown by helicopter to UK with critical injuries while Evans was cut out of his 2002 Chrysler 300 Limited and was flown to UK for critical injuries as well. Stillings was heading east on Ky. 192 towards Saint Joseph London to visit family when the accident occurred.  

He had three children and 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.  He was a retired military veteran and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and Korean War.

Evans is currently in serious condition at UK. Assisting at the scene of the accident was the Laurel County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemore, Sergeant Josh Gaylor, London-Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County Volunteer Fire Department, and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.  Deputy William Bo Harris is continuing to investigate the accident.
