March Of Dimes ‘Race For Babies’ at Corbin Speedway this Saturday

Dale Jr.’s show car will be on display

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — CORBIN—Corbin Speedway is planning for a big event this Saturday, August 3, with the inaugural March of Dimes “Race For Babies,” and the theme being “Fun All Day.”

Activity will get underway at 9:00 a.m. with a classic car show, which will continue until 12:00 noon, with trophies for show winners being provided by XS Powersports of Williamsburg.

At noon, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s show car from Hendrick Motorsports will be on display. The car will be on site until 6:00 p.m., and will do the track’s traditional “honor lap” carrying the stars and stripes during the presentation of our National Anthem.

Other activities for the afternoon are being planned, according to a spokesman for the quarter-mile paved oval racing facility.

During the intermission of the regular racing program, the always-popular bicycle races will be conducted on the track for the youngsters.

Qualifications are scheduled for 5:00 p.m., and the first racing event is set for 6:30 p.m.

The evening’s program will include the Corbin Speedway Late Model Series, Bubby’s BBQ & Catering Pure Street Series, Grease Monkey Auto Care Mini-Stock Series, and Robinson’s Premium Meats Mini-Cup Series. Trophies for the racing program are being provided by the March of Dimes.

“This is hard-core, short track stock car racing,” the track spokesman said. “Wheel-to-wheel, bumper-to-bumper, and local area drivers at the wheel. It’s also affordable family entertainment.”

Adult grandstand admission is only $5 per person, while children 12 and under admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Additional information as it is released will be posted on Corbin Speedway’s Facebook page, as well as on the track website,

Corbin Speedway is located on U.S. Highway 25 West, about 3.5 miles west of Interstate 75 Exit 25.
