LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — PAINTSVILLE—The North Laurel swim team traveled to Johnson Central Saturday to participate in the Aqua Eagles Invitational, with the girls taking first, the boys second, and a second place team finish.

“We were missing several swimmers due to illness or conflicting plans, so I wasn’t sure how well we’d do as a team,” Coach Amy Stenger said. “I knew the swimmers going would do their best and was proud to have that be proven true. Several swimmers stepped up to swim events that aren’t personal favorites.”

Four of those swimmers were Emily Albright and Walker House, who both scored in the 100 Fly, and Logan Woods and Lynsey Kraftick placed in the 500 Free.

Sydney King had a personal best time of 2:55.49 for a first place in the 200 IM. Bretty Walker placed first in the 100 Breaststroke, while Ausie Walter took first in the 50 Freestyle. The girls’ 200 Medley Relay team of Audrey Jackson, Autumn Asher, Sydney King and Courtney Woods placed third with a time of 2:33.07. The boys’ 200 Free Relay team of Sammie Buckles, Jonah Deaton, Logan Woods and Aussie Walker placed third with a time of 2:00.42.

“The girls finished first, the boys second and the combined score led to a second place finish for the whole team, bringing home three new trophies to North Laurel,” Stenger said.
