LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — BARBOURVILLE—South Laurel drained five three pointers, including three in the third quarter, to help down Knox Central, 51-40.

“We made some big threes in the third,” South Laurel coach Konnie Snyder said. “Some open threes that we were able to knock down.”

Preslie Baker, who led South with 12 points, hit two of the third quarter threes, while Bailey Miller added the other one. Miller would hit three treys on the night.

“We played decent,” Snyder said. “Our defense played pretty well and the offense was a lot more in control.”

South led 9-8 after one and 20-18 at the half.

A 12-7 third quarter allowed South to put a little distance between them and the Lady Panthers as they led 32-25 heading into the fourth quarter.

Miller finished with nine points as did Brittany Vandeventer and Shelby Davis.

“We are taking steps to where we want to be,” Snyder said.

The Lady Cardinals will host Williamsburg tonight.
