Hacker qualifies for motocross nationals

North Middle student started racing when he was six

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — When Dayne Hacker was six years old, he went to watch his cousin, Jimmy Vaughn, compete in a motocross race in Muddy Creek, Tn.

“He had to take his motorcycle along because he thought he might want to race too,” said his mother, Tracy Hacker. After watching the racers practice, Hacker told his father, Jeff Hacker, that he wanted to race.

“After that, he loved it,” his mother said.

Hacker, now 13 and a student at North Middle School, first started out on a Honda 50, but moved up to a Kawasaki 65 when he turned seven. He started racing at the Daniel Boone Motocross, where he placed in the top 10.

Success continued to follow Hacker as he progressed in classes. At 11, he started riding a Kawasaki 85. Last season, he won the 85 senior class championship at Daniel Boone.

This January, Hacker started racing in the Arena Cross Amateur Series, where he currently sits in fourth place in points. He has traveled to Lexington, Michigan and Ohio to compete in these races, and has now qualified to race in the School Boy Junior class in the Arena Cross Amateur National Championship, to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in May.

Hacker has dreams of someday making it to the Arena Cross Pro Series, but right now, he is seeking sponsors to help not only make that dream come true, but also to make the trip to Las Vegas.

Hacker is the grandson of the late Raymond Jarvis, Darlene and Ed Howard, Danny Hacker, and Norm and Sue Jackson.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring Hacker, you can call 878-7611.
